Friends, you search for something on the internet every day. But whenever you visit a website for the first time, a pop-up appears in front of you and asks you to accept cookies. You get confused when you see this. You start thinking whether I should accept it or reject it.

You do not know about what Internet cookies are and you’re not able to decide whether to accept cookies or not. Apart from this, the question also comes in the minds of people whether cookies are harmful or they are beneficial for us. If you are confused about cookies, you have come to the right place. We will answer any questions you may have about cookies.

What is a cookie?

An Internet cookie is a small text file that is sent to your browser by the website you visit for the first time. After this your browser processes and stores that text file. This text file i.e. cookies, contains information like site name and unique user ID.

Cookies starts when you visit a website for the first time. Cookies store information about your interaction with the website. With the help of cookies, the website remembers the information of your visit.

How Internet Cookie Works?

Whenever you visit a website for the first time, a cookie is saved in your browser. And when you visit the same website again, then your browser checks whether any cookie named after that website is stored inside it or not. If the cookie is stored, then the information contained in it is sent back to the same website. This lets the website know that you have been there before.

For example, let's take the Amazon website. When you go to Amazon website and suppose you searched about mobile in it. In that you see mobile according to your interest. But you got some work and you came back after closing the Amazon website there.

Now when you go to Amazon's website again, you will see all the same mobile or related products of your interest on the homepage. This is possible only because of cookies.

How many types of cookies are there?

There are mainly 2 types of cookies:

Session Cookie: There are some websites on which such cookie is set, which are automatically deleted as soon as you close the Internet browser. All such cookies are called Session Cookie. It is also called Temporary Cookie. Most of it is used for government website.

Permanent Cookie: On some websites such cookies are set which are not deleted even after closing the browser and they remain for several days, months or even years. Such a cookie is called a Permanent Cookie. Such cookies are used in Online Booking Site, Sopping Site etc.

What are Third Party Cookies?

Third Party Cookies are called cookies that come to the browser through a third party and keep an eye on user activity.

As you visit a website, sometimes 2 - 5 web pages automatically open and cookies go to the web browser without user permission. Due to which the user's data can also be misused. Third Party Cookies are sometimes entered through Ads as well.

How to stop & remove Cookies stored?

To allow or block any type of cookies or to delete web cookies, its authority is with the user from the computer browser. If the user wants, then all the cookies can be deleted from his computer and if he wants to block Safe Cookie or Third Party Cookie or Popup Cookie then he can.

Whatever browser you use, its setting or if you have opened a website, then you can block Direct Cookies by clicking on its HTTP or Secure Lock.

Pros of Cookies?

With the help of cookies, companies can interact more and more with the user.
Company can give good User Experience to the user. Many times, due to the user's details being stored in it, the user does not have to fill the details again and again.

Cons of Cookies?

Cookies detect the user's activity, which can lead to misuse of the user's data.
Sometimes User Bank Details can also be detected with the help of cookies.
Many more details of the user such as Phone No, Card Number, Personal Details can also be known with the help of cookies.
Third Party Cookies are often a harmful factor, so block the Third Party in the browser.
The browser enters its cookies only after visiting many websites. But the normal user does not know about the cookies activity.
