If you do not use the Internet much, you can save your system by using any version of free Anti-virus.

2) Always install a good Anti-virus in your system and update it on time.

3) If you want to visit a website, then you should only visit the popular and registered website.

4) Anytime you have to connect someone's pen drive, disks, mobile removable

media to your system then first scan it and only then you should use them.

5) Format your system but save whatever data is there before it should be backed up.

6) E-mail attachments should never open files, especially if you do not have any

information about the email user.

7) If you have to click on any such type of attachments or a link or download 

something, then you should never click on it, so there is more possibility of virus
